Scroll, Text, Dock and various quests

Hi how can I get the scroll to work so the page follows the timeline.
Is there an easier way than having to drag and drop a new text box every time something new needs to be typed. Like adding markers (I guess I mean shortcuts/bindings) And also to set a default length to the text box. So I don't have to keep cropping it.
I dragged the text edit box up and it docked in the video media generator, how can I get it to float again?
I closed video media generator and don't see how to get it to appear again. I looked in view to select it but I don't see it there.
I try to drag a transition to the beginning of a clip to get a fade in effect but it won't move there.
How can I get the cursor to stop at the point where I press stop?
Thanks

Hi how can I get the scroll to work so the page follows the timeline.

Explain?

Is there an easier way than having to drag and drop a new text box every time something new needs to be typed.

You can type more into one Text Box? Is this what you're asking for?

Like adding markers (I guess I mean shortcuts/bindings)

Explain?

And also to set a default length to the text box. So I don't have to keep cropping it.

I'm not aware we can change the Default for this? Good question.

I dragged the text edit box up and it docked in the video media generator, how can I get it to float again?

Please explain?

I closed video media generator and don't see how to get it to appear again.

I looked in view to select it but I don't see it there.

That IS odd?!?

I try to drag a transition to the beginning of a clip to get a fade in effect but it won't move there.

Well, what happens?

How can I get the cursor to stop at the point where I press stop?
What are you "pressing" to make the cursor stop? I use the Enter key or the "K" key.

I don't think I've been very helpful? Please explain a bit more - yeah?

Grazie

I'm not quite sure what you are asking but you can copy and paste the first text box to the second spot that you want text and then just change the text. Saves having to redo size, color, formatting etc.

<<I closed video media generator and don't see how to get it to appear again. I looked in view to select it but I don't see it there>>
It should be listed as Media Generator under view. If it is already checked and you can't find it you may have moved it off the screen. You could change your monitor resolution to view more real estate and see if you can find it. It could be hiding behind another window.

<<I try to drag a transition to the beginning of a clip to get a fade in effect but it won't move there>>
Unless you have overlapped the media in the TL there will be no transition area for it to occupy unless you draw out the quarter circle tansition at the beginning or end of an event.

<<How can I get the cursor to stop at the point where I press stop?>>
How are you pressing stop. If you do a pause the curser should stop where it is. If you do a stop it will retreat to where it started from. These settings can be altered in preferences.

[Hi how can I get the scroll to work so the page follows the timeline.]
Explain?

The time ruler would move but the page wouldn't change i.e. the ruler would be at 50 but I would still be looking at the beginning of the video.

Text question explanation: If the person says *step one* then says something else I have to drag another text box and crop it. I would like to have one long text box and under the whole video and when it arrives at the frame I want to type something, I can type under that frame, set the duration it should be displayed and move on. Instead of having to drag a new text box ever couple of words.

[I dragged the text edit box up and it docked in the video media generator, how can I get it to float again?]
Please explain?

It was floating, meaning I could move it around the page, I moved it up out of the way and it docked or went into the video media generators window. I can't get it back out.
If I knew how to place images here i would post a screenshot.

[ I try to drag a transition to the beginning of a clip to get a fade in effect but it won't move there. ]
Well, what happens?

You can use one long text box across the entire video if you wish. Set a new keyframe every time you want the text to change and at that keyframe erase the existing text and type in new.

By default, space bar is play/stop, which returns the cursor to the start position when you stop. Enter/Return is play/pause. Pressing this key will leave the cursor where it is when you stop. You can swap these functions around if you'd rather have the spacebar pause.

Pressing the | (vertical line, also the backslash) key will recenter the playhead position in the middle of the screen. As an added benefit, after doing this Vegas will scroll the screen when the playhead reaches the edge.

It's about 1/2 way down in Options - Preferences - General.
Make spacebar and F12 Play/Pause instead of Play/Stop.

I don't understand *set a new key frame* I have one long video.
To write text I have to click on the green button to get the text edit to open. Could you be more specific
Thanks
