Scrubbing Appears to remove Stuttering.

I have been getting stuttering on ACID Loops in V6a Build99. I have tried some 50 variables, but thinking that as this project was made and plays within V5 ans only stutters now wehn openned within V6, I have started to "test" the new funcions for Preview within V6a Build99 - primarily Scrubbing.

I have found that if I initially make a "total" sweep with the New Grab Scrubber, from the beginning of the project to the end, then the stuttering vanishes. It is as if the Scrubber is training the project NOT to stutter. If I don't do this then the stuttering is present. And yes the project plays in V5 - V5 doesn't have this audio Scrub option.

I would really like some further illumination on this - thank you,

Grazie

Grazie cures stuttering by having a good scrub?

Sorry, couldn't resist :)

But seriously, it sounds like a performance issue, what about if you just play the whole thing normally once or twice? Maybe a buffer or whatever gets filled by the scrubbing.

Bob.

Perhaps you are in serious need of a defrag.

Hi Guys!

" . . . it sounds like a performance issue, what about if you just play the whole thing normally once or twice?"

. . . Normally, as in listen to the stuttering? Is this normal? Bob, it is unbearable, honest! But I'm playing it through now. Yuck! Anyway, why should the performance be hindered in V6 and NOT in V5 - this I don't get?

"Maybe a buffer or whatever gets filled by the scrubbing."

Maybe! Maybe this is what is happening. I don't know. I just don't want it to be the way it is. It is really quite horrid and gets in the way of me making Edit decisions. If this is a Buffer thing then the only thing that has happened is me installing V6. Is there some clever Buffer/Scubber layer/thing happening that my PC needs to know about? 'Cos if it is, then my PC, at present, is totally unaware of it. More to the point, nothing in the install has told it to be aware of it.

"Perhaps you are in serious need of a defrag." - My Loops are on my G drive. Yes it was! Done. And no it hasn't changed matters - thanks for the suggestion.

Anymore for . . .er . .anymore? I'm game . . with or without a GOOD scrubbing - thanks Mr Farss!

Played through once with stutters .. and now plays fine . . . BUT, I really shouldn't need to play through a project just so Vegas gets its act together - should I? I have never had to do this with V5 - yeah? It does leave me suspicious as to what issues I might incur within further/other projects down the line - yes?

Anyways, just closed and reopenned - stutters are back.

Hey Ho! Sent technical request to Sony, I'm sure to get a solution from them,

Grazie

In Preferences-General, do you have BUILD 8 BIT PEAK FILES selected? (I think that just speeds up initial loading anyways)
I'm stumped because your machine is plenty fast.

. .and, Mario, it all works in Vegas5 and ACID Pro5 . . please do not forget about that. No Stuttering in V5 or AcidPro5 . . see?

I've sent this off to Sony Tech - we'll see.

Interesting. I posted a problem I'm having with the meters in surround mixer not updating on a looping region after the first loop under certian conditions in the Vegas Audio forum.

Scrubbing the section fixed my problem too.
