unfortunately i, (and many others probably), are still chewing over gpu implementation.

don't get me wrong, i dearly love working with vegas for all it's foibles - in fact i've just spent two days chewing them over as well:

a. my customised toolbar icons STILL disappear with regularity when switching away from vegas (how many years has this been around!)

b. i'm still getting crash reports AFTER exiting vegas, though thankfully NOT while editing at the moment.

c. all my gpu stuff is turned off - i really don't have the patience or time to start working out what works with what settings. (this is really my biggest bugbear with vegas...)

please scs, get what we've got (and paid for) sorted out before introducing your latest marketing gimmicks...

I think Sony continue to fail to see who there core users are and why they use the software. Continuing to go after the PP segment will fail and frustrate the faithful. Diluting development away from what we need fixed and have needed for 3 generations of Vegas.

Potter, you may not grasp what the company plan needs to be. You are talking from the perspective of one individual customer - the company must have an encompaswsing overview if it is to succeed. I would bet a lot of money that Sony is taking the larger view.

+1 on that. We users are very insulated from the business ops. All we users see are the trees. SCS must see the forest as a whole.

That said. The bug level of Vegas is problematic as is the dribbling of fixes for said bugs. I am not talking about the random GPU crashes Vegas is plagued by. Deterministic ones seem to get left behind.

Sony certainly is. Every new Sony camera launch I've been to they show off how well it works with the NLEs from three "A"s and Vegas never really gets a mention. The one time it did appear on a PPT slide the Sony presenter clearly had never heard of Vegas. There's more people in this city shooting with Sony's F55 than editing with Vegas.

sort of like the loggers looking at forest. it's called clear-felling ;-)*

*and generally they have no thought of regrowth or revegitation

I don't doubt that Sony have a business strategy. Many businesses have flawed strategies and they fail their customers who end up leaving them. Only time will tell.

I may not be able to see the forest for the trees, but I do not what my needs are and would like them to be met.
