SD-Connect problems

I'm looking for an answer to a couple of problems I've been having with the SD-Connect box. I am consistently seeing a "No 1394 Stream" error on the SD-Connect box when I'm playing back in Vegas. Hopefully, I have a couple of settings in the wrong place.

I am running a G-Raid firewire device on a seperate firewire card, but I seem to have the same trouble even when I disconnect that drive. Reboots and resets haven't helped.

I also had a problem the other day where I was getting video out of the SD-Connect, but no audio. I checked the settings in the SD-Connect menus several times. I couldn't get AES or Analog audio out of the SD-Connect box.

Any ideas?

You've likely got SDI as the input source. Easy to accidentally set.
What AES devices do you have? That's sort of an oddity that not many folks even have I/O for.

Nope. I have the Playback setting as 1394, and I had the Capture settings to SDI video and AES audio. Like I mentioned before, I even changed the audio to analog and tried that just to make sure I wasn't doing something dumb. I believe someone at Convergent once told me that they are always streaming to all outputs if the Setup Direction is Playback. That is why I was thinking that I may have a setting wrong in Vegas somewhere.

At the time, I was working with a Sony DNW-A75 (Beta SX).

I'm not sure what might have caused it then. In Vegas, you should be passing the video only, not the audio, when you are previewing, and then passing both on print to tape. You're using the external monitor feature, I'm assuming, in Vegas, to preview via the SD Connect?

That was the information that I was looking for about the audio. Thanks. I did not realize that Vegas did not pass audio in the 1394 stream unless you were printing to tape. That may be basic knowledge... but I did not know that.

Thanks for the info.

Anybody with info on the "No 1394 Stream" error that I am seeing on the SD-Connect?

If you see no 1394 stream, vegas is not streaming anything at the SD-Connect. Have you been able to capture video with the SD-Connect? If you go to control panel, system, device manager, do you see AV/C Compliant DV tape recorder/player listed under imaging devices?
Feel free to email me at support at convergent-design.com and we can work this out.
