sd to hd

i know (or think i do) the usual t/l method, but i was just reading about 'instant hd' from magic bullet.....

i have a huge number of sd interview tapes that i'd like to uprez for use in an hd project. other than dropping on t/l and pan/scan, is there any standalone software like instant hd that i could just drop them in and leave overnight (and perhaps automatically take out the 'urm's, 'ah's, etc.,)?

Just use the Veggie Tookit from Peachrock to batch it through Vegas. No need to do much, just build the template you need, drop the video files into the Multirenderer, select template and output folder and get some rest. Doesn't help with the "ums", sorry.

(and perhaps automatically take out the 'urm's, 'ah's, etc.,) <-- I thought that was the job of the Editor.

I wouldn't go over 720p from SD. It is very difficult to go to 1080.

I haven't seen Instant HD.

I used VirtualDub, unfolding interlaced fields side-by-side, lancos resize, then fold fields back. Search this forum for lancos resize from the past year for details. It's free.

I would be curious as to a comparison between VD Lancos and Instant HD to see which handles better.

That's what I've been doing and it looks pretty good.

thanks gents,

a wealth of information as usual. i think i'll take a look at veggie toolkit, i was thinking about it some time ago (i was talking with randall about batch capture sd, with extra head and tails), so i shall revisit it / him, and see where we go...

again thanks one and all,
