to make a 16:9 matte in photoshop, what are the dimensions? Trying to get the square/round pixel thing down.

Soounds like you need to upgrade, so you can just select "NTSC Widescreen" in Photoshop...

I think this started in Photoshop CS.

There are some other things to know related to 720x480 (DV) vs. 720x486 (D1).

On the preset of Vegas it says -

NTSC

Video: 29,97 fps, 720x480, Lower field first.
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,212. OpenDML compatible.
Widescreen NTSC DV video files compatible with Sony Video Capture.

OR

PAL DV

Video: 25 fps; 720x576; Lower field first.
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,457. OpenDML compatible.
Widescreen PAL DV video files compatible with Sony Video Capture.

V
