See if you can reproduce this bug

I am running Vegas 3.0 on a WinXP Pro machine. After a clean install of XP then Vegas, I have determined that Vegas is responsible for the following bug: open Windows Media Player, and under the HELP menu go to "Check for player updates." You will get an error "Microsoft Windows Media Configuration Utility has encountered an error and will have to close."

The update function works perfectly prior to Vegas 3.0 install, and is reproducibly broken afterwards . . can anyone else reduplicate this behavior?

Yup...Happens to me too. (Win XP Home though)

Known issue.

First reported 12/28/01 by heedo (search "media player" in this forum to read entire thread).

Reportedly, you can run setup_wm.exe from within the media player subdirectory (as a workaround) in the meantime.
