selecting a 'plain' dissolve

I’m trying to add a dissolve transition to 100 still images. I have highlighted all of the images and now need to add the dissolve BUT I just want a plain, simple dissolve and I can’t find it! The choices
are ‘additive’, ‘subtractive’, ‘color bleed’, etc. Which one should I select to get a simple dissolve?

Simply overlapping the images will create crossfades between them. Maybe this is the dissolve you're looking for.

That is the crossfade that I want but how do I apply it to all my clips at once?

They have to all be overlapped. There isn't any "apply overlap" function. There are scripts that can do this after the fact, but scripts only work in the Pro version of Vegas.

If you're just starting your project there is a setting under Options / Preferences / Editing that lets you select an automatic overlap amount. New clips added to the end of your project will automatically overlap the previous clip by this amount and result in a crossfade.

If you're already far along in the editing process then probably your only option is to manually drag all the clips back to the left one at a time to create the overlaps.
