Selecting Video+Audio always in Trimmer

I'm using the trimmer very heavily and have one major frustration. Often after I've made a selection within it that I then want to Add (using A keyboard shortcut) it to the timeline, only the video portion of the event will be selected, so that when it goes onto the timeline, it's missing the associated audio track. Usually, however, both video and audio are selected. I know that you can change the default portion to be selected by the right-click menu or with Tab key combinations, but I'm not doing either of those on purpose (and I don't think I'm hitting the Tab key by accident that much!)

So it must be something with my time selection technique. Anyone have an idea how to avoid this problem?

Thanks,
Judd

When you set your time selection, make sure the mouse pointer is somewhat near the dividing line between the video and audio. Roughly it is top third = select video only, middle third = select both, bottom third = select audio only.

Hi,
Allow me to chime in on this one...
True-true-true... this technique that SonyTSW describes applies to many selection issues in SF/Sony software, and has been consistent over the years. That's one thing I *really* like about SF/Sony software: consistency of approach!
I have to gently remind/reinforce my middle school students about this every day that I work in my school's multimedia studio (of course it's a SF/Sony "shop"!!!)
Minor issue; but it does make sense once you understand it.
Regards, Doug

Thanks for the quick answer! As with so many things in SBMS, it's not apparent from the interface that this is the way it works. But this will save me a lot of aggravation.

Now the last thing I need: Folders or groups for the media pool -- next version, maybe? (Yes, I know Vegas probably has this.)
