Selling old version?

I have a friend who is getting excited about video editing. He is now trying to figure out which software to use. He has downloaded the trial of VMSP and has spent some time getting to know the interface. He likes the program but is balking at the price. The problem is not so much the 129 but the timing. He is upgrading his computer, buying cameras, and buying DVD burners. To help out, I would like to sell him my registered copy of Vegas 6+DVDA. This would get him started until he can afford to move to V7 or V8. Does anyone know if that is legal and will he be able to re-register the software under his name?

I feel that if he were to use V6 for a while Sony would have a new Vegas user in their camp.

Yes, Sony allows this.

I don't know if they will continue to allow this in VP8.

You can contact Sony and let them know that you are transferring your license. Tell them your serial number and then give your friend Vegas with that serial number. He then contacts Sony and they will issue him a new serial number.

Now your friend does not have the right to upgrade from that version, since you still have V7 and you will be able to upgrade from V7
