Semi-OT: 50 powerful people

So just got the new Entertainment Design and they have the 50 Powerful People run down. it is an unofficial/official poll of who others in the industry think the 50 top "movers and shakers" are. I thought I might share a few that stuck out - and you may have heard of:

7. Mark Fisher. Picked because of his set design from the Rolling Stone to the new Las Vegas show from Crique De Soleil.

9. John Meyer. A bit of a funny pick, funny because a blurb that mentions everyone "softly laughs at his absent minded professor persona." LOL. But seriously folks - really picked because of his ability to create great product, do great marketing and create a "hugely successful high-end audio company."

30. Steve Jobs. "President, Apple: Huh?" Most here probably feel that way too - but it points out that "In this world there are PC users and Mac users. Guess which is the favorite of most designers?"

38. Tony Meola. Sound Designer. Need I say more? ;)

49. Willie Williams. Picked because of every thing he does to rock our live worlds. Show Designer for U2 and Video Designer for the Rolling Stones last tour. (Now maybe if he used Vegas and got rid of *ahem* that mac, maybe he could move up to at least 20 don't 'cha think?) (Well - maybe Sony needs to pick up on that and offer him a system to use. "See Vegas live..with special guests Spot and Sarzo and extra special guests Johnny Philko!!")

You know what? Living in the middle of nowhere, with no TV... I have no clue who any of these people are except Jobs. :)

Sadly, I was #51. Maybe next year.

Steve Jobs, while being the inventor and disseminator of the ertswhile Apple and Macintosh is also (and currently more importantly) the orignal backer and (possibly) president of Pixar - creators of the first 3D animation for theater release, Toy Story, and more lately, Finding Nemo.

In Hollywood, profit = important.

yes, but do you know what their first on screen (movie) animation was? :)

I guess not. I was hoping someone besides me knew this (then I wouldn't be so much of a nerd).

Pixar's animation on the big screen was in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. They did all the teraforming videos. :)
