Which is better, cheap body with expensive glass, or expensive body with cheap glass.

On the other hand I've had a play with a "SLR Magic" lens on a NEX-5 and when you find the sweet spot of the incredibly cheap lens the results for video are not bad at all.
The SLR Magic and "Toy Lens" sold on eBay are lenses made for CCTV with the C mount replaced with whatever mount to suit the camera.
