Semi-OT: Upconverting for festivals.

Man has first feature shot on MiniDV-24p (DVX100) for budget reasons. (Edited of course via Vegas 5, Sound Forge 7, Noise Reduction 2 & Sony Music Studio, then to DVDA2). Major festival requires projection on HD-Cam 1080i if DVD submission is accepted. Man thinks ahead.

Yes, man knows upconverting to HD Cam makes no difference in picture quality but wants to comply with projection requirement. Anyone know the simplest way to make a reliable copy from a MiniDV tape (or firewire off Vegas timeline) to a camera/deck/etc. (rental perhaps) that will record the signal onto an HD Cam cassette?

Man may want to consider rendering to some other format than DV onto a hard disk or probably a possibly a fairly seriuous disk array. If for no other reason than that your titles may look better. If you have titles and stills mixed in with DV footage you can definitely do better than to render it all back down to DV.

Otherwise, I don't know the specifics. I'd start at the HD Cam end and figure out what you need to get it into the HDCam format at that end. Then render from Vegas to get as near as possible to that. For Instance, If you could output from a Blackmagic HD card over SDI then you might want to render from Vegas to a BMD HD codec.

All conjecture on my part. My employer is going through the same process right now so I'm eavesdropping a lot. Good luck at the festival!

Thanks & thanx for the good wishes. If it looks as good as it seems now, I'll invite Sony to put a blurb in a future catalog.
