Sending a video to a mac computer to be rendered to DVD? PT2

I am working on a project for a photographer friend. I need to take a template I am making him( a photo of a frame that has the middle removed so he can add client's proof pix in the frame to give them the idea of what looks good in a frame before buying) so it will be a picture edited in photoshop to remove the middle of the frame. Then I am being suggested to render to a mov since this is going to Final cut express where the photos will be added then burned to a DVD on the mac. What kind of settings should I use to keep the quality like rendering an avi on a pc? This needs to be excellent quality since going to DVDs.
Any advice good here. : )

From your description, it sounds like you are creating a still graphic, yes?

In that case you don't need any kind of video file such as .mov, just a graphic image file in a format that supports an alpha channel.
