I looked at this mic in December and after reading some of the reviews on B&H, I'm glad I went with an Azden SMX10 for half the cost.

Not sure how my budget mic decision sounds in comparison to the MKE400, but it appears that the price for the Senny is more about the name than performance.

I've been quite happy with how the Azden mic has performed considering the price, it has met my needs very well so far.

One good thing about the Senny 400 is it's very small. You can mount it on a palmcorder and not have the camera overwhelmed by the mic.

Hi

I have the Roede videomic and I'm quite happy with it - it's a bit bigger than the senny though, but it fits my HV20 perfecly.

There was a good thread about on camera mics a couple of years ago and Spot made some Audio Teckica (?) sugestions but I can't find in now. Any links - outdated?

I will say Sennheiser has a big name but every senn product I have bought I have been disapointed with.
