serial code issue

Hi.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I was looking to upgrade from Vegas 7.0 to Vegas 9.0 and every time I input the serial number it tells me it's invalid. I just got a new computer so that's why I need the upgrade...anyways where can you find the serial number? Is it just the number at the bottom of the start up/loading screen?

Thank you!

Jill

Not sure if this is the issue, but your version 7 serial number won't work with version 9. You would have to purchase the upgrade to get a new serial number. If you have purchased version 9 then you would have been emailed the serial number if it was a download purchase, or it would be on a postcard in the box if it was the boxed version. If you've registered version 9 previously then look at My Account / My Software at the top of this webpage to find a list of your serial numbers.

I have version 7.0 and when I went to purchase the upgrade to 9.0 it wouldn't accept the 7.0 serial number to prove purchase.

Try once more what Chienworks proposes: Go to My Account/My software (above) and copy/paste the needed serial number from your registered software.
Have done that for years - and it works :-)

I had a similar problem where my serial number was not accepted for the upgrade in the online store.

I called Sony Customer Service (800.577.6642), and they were able to validate my serial number and sell me the upgrade via phone.
