Serial# Vs. Challenge/Response activation?

HI Folks,

Can anyone confirm that the boxed version of Vegas 7 requires only a serial # to install? I’ve searched this forum but there seems to be conflicting responses.

I have both ACID Pro and Sound Forge boxed and those only require a serial #. Apparently though the downloadable versions do require a challenge/response activation that is tied to a specific hardware configuration (and a limited number of installs).

As Adobe seems to be moving in this direction for all of its products across the board, I’m hoping that Sony will keep on the high road and show some respect for its paying customers.

Thanks in advance,

Brad

You will need to activate (authorize) the boxed version of Vegas 7 within 30 days.

Question for the ESD/download version:

How many installs do I get for Vegas 7/DVD4?

I have one main production pc, and two laptops; I'd like to try the new vegas 7 out on the laptops while any bugs are resolved etc, and also to simply have it installed on 2-3 pcs - what's the serial number activation limit?

thanks,

ken

i think on previous versions it was 5 or 10, but all you have do is call support and they will reset it for you.

Ken, i'm sure the actual number is a closely guarded secret. However, i'm sure you'll be ok. I've got a bit past the 3 you're talking about and not had any problems.
