Serious Video Editing Show that is a Comedy

MH_Stevens wrote on 11/11/2007, 3:54 AM
In London area right now and last week I saw on the box a most strange show. It was a comedy show about video editing that was also a correct and detailed instructional video in the craft. Really too strange to fully describe and I have mislaid the name of the show. Maybe Gracie or any other London based formum member might be able to give a link or info. Well recommended to see and laught at.

Give us a clue, Mike.
By "Right now" do you mean 11.54am Sunday - if not, then when.
Channel ideas? Terrestrial? Freeview? Sky?
Searching DigiGuide, but can't see anything as yet...

I'd guess this would have been "Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe Guide to Television". which was shown on BBC2 on 31st October. (There's also a new series of Screenwipe on BBC4 at the moment, soon to be repeated on BBC2.)

It was about the making of a TV show in general, rather than specifically about video editing, but I think it fits your description (and I can't think of much else that would).

There's a website here that should let you confirm or deny this suggestion.

Thank you Mark: This is indeed the show. A hoot I thought.

It is indeed very funny. Your description didn't ring a bell as I've only seen a couple of episodes and sadly neither of them really dealt with programme making. Guess I'd better look out for the repeats.

I like it. Especially that "reality" TV editing demonstration.
Was that U-tube presentation a compilation of several shows?

I think the BJ reference jokes would keep it off most of our US channels.

That particular show was transmitted on TV just as you see it on Youtube, but it was made up of from a compilation of bits from (I think) the first series of Screenwipe.

As far as I am aware the series has so far only been transmitted on BBC4 (one of the Beeb's digital channels) which has a fairly small audience. The new series is going to be shown also on BBC2 (one of the Beeb's main channels, available on analog broadcast, with a much larger audience) and I preume this compilation show was intended as a taster to encourage the new, wider, BBC2 audience to watch it.

There seem to be a number of other bits from the earlier series of Screenwipe on Youtube which you may like too if you liked the "Guide to Television" compilation.

Awesome!

The British Accents add sooo much to this. I don't think it would have been nearly as entertaining if it were American.

Looks like they've got an awesome team.

Whaddyamean British Accents? We don't have accents. It's the rest of you who do!
