Set default directory?

When I am editing a project and select save as or render as, it always starts by default in "my documents". My video projects are in a different directory, which is pretty far away from my documents.
It's really annoying to have to keep navigating every time.

How can i change the default directory in vegas pro? I'm using 9.0. same problem on 32bit/64bit

If you ever find a way, let me know as I have the same complaint :-(
Once I save it to the proper folder the first time though, all subsequent saves go to that same location.

It would be so amazingly wonderful if in that RenderAs/SaveAs dialog box, we could have 4 or 6 buttons for 'favorite locations'. Without having to browse around our drives, we could simply click the one labeled 'family movie renders', or 'client: ashcroft advertisements', or whatever we name them, and have the path move to that directory.

Heck, even if we couldn't specify them, have it list the last 4 or 6 places we've saved, and then we can select them with a single click. That would be very useful! But i'd still like to have programmable 'favorites' rather than 'recent locations'.

Great idea, and it jogged my brain about what I do to solve this. I frequently find my save-as dialog has taken me to "my desktop" or "my documents" so I leave shortcuts there. I can double-click on them in the save-as dialog and go to (or at least near) the folder I want to be in.

Believe me, I spend a LOT of time navigating folders and it eventually grinds you to dust and tears. This helps.

I also keep a "current project" folder in the links toolbar of windows explorer. I can put 5 or 6 of the most frequently accessed links there.

Incidentally, I just opened up VP8, opened a project, and then did a Save As. It offered to save in the last location I used, last session. "Render As" goes to "My Documents", though.

It should remember the last place you saved to... it does for me anyway.

At any rate you can change the paths through internal settings. (Hold the shift key down while clicking on PREFERENCES. You will see an extra tab called "internal". There's a search box at the bottom... punch in PATH and it will bring up all your default paths.

Careful using the internal setting though Josh... you can screw yourself up good by playing with the wrong things.
