set DVD start

i know about this option and have used it to set the start of my DVD to the main menu. however, when i play the burned DVD, the video still auto starts when the disc is loaded. i really don't want the video to auto start so is there some other setting i'm missing that i can use to prevent this and force the menu to come up first?? or is there something weird going on?

It can be a little confusing what level you are on. Make sure you are "highlighting" the main menu (you are in the main menu dialogue) You need to set the end action command of your main menu to "hold". It is probably set to "activate button"

actually it was set to loop which it needs to be because i have animation (a gif and an avi in the background) in the menu. should loop cause the autostart to menu to work as long as i have the set start in the right place (which i do)?

To my knowledge, I don't think loop should do anything other than loop. This may be a long shot, but is it possible while you were setting up the menu, you thought you deleted a button, but didn't? You can delete certain aspects of a button without getting rid of the whole thing and depending on the border settings and such may slip past being obvious. Check all your buttons and see if they are set to auto activate by highlighting the button and clicking action. Beyond this, the only other thing I can suggest is to check the end action of all aspects of your video - if you have multiple sub menu's. You may have to start over from scratch to be sure you structure it properly. In my experience I have never had an issue with loop - it has simply done just that.

the buttons seem fine.. i made this for someone else so i've been testing the navigation of the buttons thoroughly to make sure they are right - nothing gets hilited that shouldn't be..
actually, i think this may have more to do with the type of disc or player i'm using. for testing purposes, i burn initially to a dvd-rw disc then play it on my portable player (my 'real' player doesn't recognize rw). it's here where i see the auto start go to the video instead of the menu. on top of that, there are other dvd's i have that contain more complex menuing structures that have problems playing as well. so i think there's something up with this player.
if i burn to a -/+R disc and play it on my real player, the auto start does go right to the menu and not the video so i guess that's the solution.
