set up preview

How much RAM should I allot to the preview playback? I plan to preview on a secondary windows separate monitor. I have a total of 3 Gigs available, and 4 Gigs on my system. I have a quad core system. My video card is an Nvidia Quatro FX 1700. Thanks!

If you're using Vegas 8 Pro, it will set a limit for you that you can't exceed (around 1024 MB if you're using XP Pro).
Use this for RAM previews but drop it down to around 128 for render purposes.

Thank you. I guess I should have mentioned that I'm using 8.1 with 64 bit Vista, so there does not appear to be a limitation. I have 3 GB available to use, so I set it to 1.5 GB, but that is just a guess from a training video that I saw. They mentioned to set it to about 1/2 available. Does that sound right?
