Setting audio options during capture

In the video capture interface there is a 'Video' and 'Audio' drop down menu. Video usually shows the name of the device you're connected to. For me, the 'Audio' drop down lists my default codec (SigmaTel) and 'Total Recorder', another application I have loaded on my machine, but both entries are grayed out and TotalRecorder has been selected. Does anyone have any idea how I can change the selection to my system (SigmaTel) codec?

Go to Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices, select the Audio tab and restore SigmaTel as your default recording device.

If you are capturing through firewire then there is no choice available. The audio will come through the firewire cable with the video.

Chienworks and trock,

Thanks for the replies. I did get this to work, long before I posted my question. I admit I forgot the audio is coming through the firewire and, trock, I did check that as part of my debug process. I think it's this darn TotalRecorder stuff. Changing some settings in that definitely eliminated the audio dropouts I was getting that set me off on this tangent in the first place. TotalRecorder is nice for what it does but it does have the annoying tendency to take control of just about anything related to audio, no matter where it's coming from or going to. After I uninstalled it I was able to get 'Audio' to default to SoundMax and the dropouts went away and even reinstalling it (TotalRecorder) didn't seem to mess things up. I've looked through the registry and found 'SoundMax Digital Audio' in one of the 'Sony Video Capture 5.0' keys. My guess is that's where this setting is stored. But I'm going to leave well enough alone.
