I still imaged the last frame of a segment and inserted as media with an event with Page Peel. I do not see how to give it an absolute length/duration. (obviously I can drag size/duration it, but how do you give it an exact entry length, eg. like 2 sec.?)
There are lots of methods. Not sure if the studio version does this, but the Pro version shows you how far you've dragged something as you're dragging it. Look for a little white popup box with minutes:seconds;frames as you're dragging.
One of the more visual ways is to create a loop region that is the length you want, starting at the start of the event. There are three sets of timecodes below the right corner of the timeline and the last one shows the current loop selection duration. This makes it easy to drag a loop to any exact length. After you have the loop created drag the end of the event out to match the end of the loop.
thanks for all your help ... - I have learned enough though to know the indirect ways to do this...(ie, your suggestions). I was wondering if I missed something to directly give a length (like other events that do). I find it strange why there is no consistency "across the board". [VMS is highly impressive with all it can do, but there seems to be some basic lack also]
You could set the NEW STILL IMAGE LENGTH to 2 seconds (or whatever you wanted) in the preferences so that when you place a still it will automatically be created at that length.
