Setting Memory for RAM rendering

The I have had a bubble window pop up in Windows XP to say that Windows was adjusting virtual memory because there wasn't enough. Could this be something to do with the Virtual memory? . My machine has 1GB of RAM but I also has the setting for RAM rendering set very high. Is this possible to be too high & if so just how much can to allocate to this.

I can be playing a file like an MP3 & suddenly the music stops for anywhere up to 6 or 7 seconds before continuing playing. This sudden freeze of sound also extends to programs where the mouse refuses to move for several seconds. Is this apt to caused by the same reason?

One simple test would be to set it lower and see if your problems go away.
Sony recommends that the RAM allocation be 65-70 percent what shows as availabe RAM.

You might want to also check to see what else is running. Go to Start / RUN and type msconfig

Then look at the startup tab. You may have a LOT of junk apps (even spyware) that is taking a LOT of resources. You can search for a STARTUP index on the web and then look each item up to see what it does if you are in doubt.

You may want to leave your virtual memory allocation to the default settings of Win XP (system managed) and your Vegas RAM rendering lower (depends on how high your "high" was.) If you are using third party memory management software, that could be another issue.
