Setting Vegas markers to embeded AVI markers?

Hi,

I've noticed that the AVI clips which I've rendered in Vegas have embeded markers.

Does anyone know if there is a way to load these markers back into the timeline from the AVI clip?

The reason is that I'm compressing to MPEG2 in a separate session (since it's not networkable) and currently DVD-A isn't seeing the markers in the final rendered clips. So I would like to figure out how to either load the markers into DVD-A or an automatic way of loading them back in to Vegas from the AVI before rendering an MPEG2.

You can load the files into the trimmer, and move them around in there, including renaming them. To get those markers back on the timeline, zoom in on the AVI while it's in the timeline, and place a new marker over the old one.
I'm more concerned about why DVDA isn't seeing the markers. If you can see the marker indicators in the rendered file in Vegas, DVD Architect should be seeing the markers in the frames too.

I think I might have found a work around. If I temporarily replace the MPG file with the AVI, I can tell DVDA to load the markers from that file. Then switch back to the MPG again.

My only guess on why DVDA isn't seeing the markers would be that Vegas isn't passing them on in the render. In Vegas the markers only show up inside the AVI's event. I haven't been able to get Vegas to automaticly import them up onto the ruler/region field. The only manual way I've figured is to just place the cursor on each marker and then create a new marker. But that's a pain.

If you had rendered the MPEG2 file from the same project timeline as you had rendered the AVI file then the MPEG2 file would have contained markers as well (well, not really, but they would have been in a .sfl file, but DVDA would have loaded this along with the .mpg file and gotten the markers from there). My guess is that you created the .avi file first, then rendered the .mpg file from that .avi file in a new project. Sadly, the markers don't carry over this way.

If you still have the original project file that you started with you could render to something like AC3 very quickly, making sure that "save project markers" is selected, then use this .ac3 file with it's accompanying .sfl file in DVDA. What you did is probably faster though. Sometimes you might night have the .avi file with the markers so this method can cover you in that situation too.
