Settings: Want 4:3 pillarboxed in widescreen

I'm sure I came across the solution to this ages ago, but do you think I can find the post? No.

What I want to achieve:

To put a 4:3 video into a DVDA project so that on a standard 4:3 screen it will appear normal, and on a widescreen TV it will not appear stretched (pillar-boxed). I'm sure it was somehow tied up with project and media properties but I have not been able to crack it.

All advice gratefully accepted.

marks

You just create a 4:3 aspect ratio DVD. Whether it's pillarboxed or stretched is a setting on the TV, not in the DVD. It is true that there are some cheap upconverting DVD players that will take a 4:3 AR DVD and stretch it to 16:9 when upconverting from 480p to 1080i or 1080p, but again, that's a setting in the player, not something you can control with the disc.

AFAIK.

when up converting I've seen ALL dvdplayers stretch. That's because 480 is 4:3, everything else is 16:9.

but it's the tv doing the piller thinggy.
