SF 5.0!!! What a turd

What a disappointment, all this waiting for a new sound
forge and this is the best you could come up with? The
only thing you've done is give it a facelift and finally
got 24bit 96Khz support...infact you bi-passed that
standard, with 32bit 192Khz support, probably so you don't
have to upgrade for another 3 years!!!

My biggest disappointments:
1. CD Architect is no longer recognized in menu items.
2. No Non-destructive editing of Wave files or volume
envelopes....if you aren't gonna include this, then at
least allow CD architect to come up as a menu item, now I
have to have 2 installations of sound forge to do mastering
work if I want 24bit capability.
3. No drag and drop of CD Tracks to convert to wave file,
the old anchient CD architect method. What's the matter, no
one can write any new code, just stole that one from CD
architect?

My opinion, this is a downgrade, 4.5 is much better than
5.0. Looks like I will be learning Wavelab as much as I
hate to say that. Too many short comings and work arounds
to even consider this a professional upgrade.

Unbelievable.

Slagging off a beta for a start.

I seriously doubt you have had much patience and taken much
time to try out the program properly. (You can't even
mangage to post in the correct forum)

Also, how can you say that non-destructive editing isn't
supported? SF makes it easy to work on a copy of your
original file and have undos, so what's the problem there?

As for bemoaning the lack of CD Architect, CD Architect
never worked with dozens of CD Writers, at least
Tools/Create CD does.

Maybe if you ever did any real editing you would know
what I mean about "non destructive" editing. Let's see you
try and trim the heads and tails of a file and then add a
non destructive fade on each end also....oh yeah you can do
this with a copy!!!...ok let's see you remove the second
verse out of a song and splice it back together
seamlessly. I'm asked to do this a lot to shorten songs.
let's see you crossfade 2 regions and be able to slide them
apart to adjust the time between them. You're right, I'm
not patient, and neither are my clients when they pay by
the hour and every other studio who has other professional
software can do non destructive stereo editing!!! The next
thing there hasn't been a new release from version 4.5 in
over 2 years!!!! What's to be patient about? 2 years isn't
long enough!!! YOU ARE A DUMB ASS!!! Beta just means it
hasn't been fully tested....that has little to do with
features!!!

Oooh Brian, you are sooooo bad-tempered

Yeah, I do though, I'm an audio engineer for a video
production company

you would know
>>what I mean about "non destructive" editing.

But you asked "where's the non destructive editing"? As if
the only editing available was destructive. I pointed out,
that it wasn't. I never said it was like Samplitude or
Vegas.

What's your complaint? No one is making you buy SF 5, you
slagged off a FREE beta, if you don't like it, don't buy
it, buy something else. Is there some kind of law that
says the company must bring out new versions every 6
months, with whatever features YOU would like to see?

as much as i hate to admit it...i agree with you. I am all for sound forge 4.5. In fact the production company i work for has kept 4.5 on all working machines.
