SF Windows tweaks guide ?

I am aware of many websites offering recommended Windows tweaks for optimal DAW performance. However some of these are contradictory, and some software may work in a different manner to others. How about a derfinitive guide from SF, say in the Knowledge Base with SF's recommendations >

Would make a common ground for everybody to start from in tracking down problems, and make SF's tech support job a lot easier...

And make it for not just DAMN XP folks..! please incl 98SE as well, which is simpler, I know, but please include it for 98SE, or 95 maybe also...thanks..

Sorry for the expletive...I get a little tired of the XP hard sell...and I am all too familiar with it, and when I can, caution those to NOT buy it as much as i can...

XP is great for audio apps, I have no trouble whatsoever with it. Stable and reliable. Also, the only thing you can run in a networking environment.

Johan, what do you mean by "the only thing"? I've been networking with Windows Networking since the old WFW 3.11 days, and before then we had DOS 3.3 and Windows 3 networked with Novell.

Because everything prior to Windows NT4 is as secure as double paper walls...

If you have an cable Internet connection, like us, and a 100-computer LAN behind a tiny little firewall, like us, you're a good target for DDOS-phreaks. If we would be running, say, Windows 98 or (gasp!) 95, we wouldn't last five minutes. The NT5-kerneled OS'es (W2k and WXP) are moderately secure in that area.
