"sfap0" Files Rebuilding Every Time With No Changes...

Each time I open a master project with 4 nested projects, it is rebuilding the "sfap0" files each and every time. No changes took place in any of the projects whatsoever..

It did not do this last night. Today, it is. I rember that V4/V5 peak files were rebuilding on certain dates/times.

Could this be akin to this phonomena?

This is taking about 5 to 10 minutes each time I open my master project and is becoming quite irritating.

Any idea why this may be?

We really, really, really need a program update ASAP.

Update: My master veg file has been rebuilding the "sfap0" files for about 15 minutes now with seemingly no end in sight.

I'm having the same problems with the sfap0 files being created every time I open my master project. Did a few searches to find answers - but no luck.

Is anyone else having the same problem or could I be doing something wrong. I am on 6.0d

Thanks

Keith

I have no problem at all unless I perform a render in DVD-A on the same files then it will rebuild the peaks when V6d opens a project utilizing the same files. I assume Acid will do this also.

Actually there have been lots of threads about this. In older versions of Vegas, this will happen whenever you have a time change, like daylight savings time. If you open a project created during the old time, it will cause the files to be re-created. This will also happen if you alter any of the files outside of Vegas. Finally, if you run more than one version of Vegas (like Vegas 5 and Vegas 6), the files will be re-created when you open the project in the other version, and vice versa.

Kent,
I am having the same problem. The sfap0 files I've seen (I haven't investigated it very much) are the full audio files of the nested vegs, not the peak files.

Recently I had a 2 cam shoot with a separate audio track (44.1khz from a HIMD recorder), I have cam 1 video only veg on track 1, cam 2 video only veg on track 2, and an audio veg on track 3. When I reopen the master veg, it builds another 600MB sfap0 file. I could have several in my folder over the life of the editing of the video. It may be time-based, where the next day I open up the veg it rebuilds.

I wonder if it has to do with the audio track 44.1khz not matching the 48khz final output, and for better preview window performance it rebuilds it to match the project properties? I've noticed more posts the past few months concerning how audio switches/formats can affect playback performance.

Hmmm. I think I will convert the audio into the final output before editing next time I have a 44.1khz file to deal with, and see how things work that way.

You're right. Ignore my earlier post.
