Do you have enough ram allocated? (options>prefs>video>Dynamic Ram preview max)

I rebooted and it was OK. The ram is set for 400. It says 640 max, can I set it
to 640?

you can set it to the max allowed, no worries.

Sorry to jump in on this. But, I thought I read that you should leave 128 left for use in just running the Vegas program. I don't think I quite worded this right, so I hope you get what I mean.

thanks.

That setting is just the maximum that dymanic RAM rendering can use, not the amount that it will use. If there's less than that amount available (for example, Vegas has already grabbed 128MB of it), then dynamic rendering won't try to use what's already used by something else.
