Shooting in Louisiana - Steadystick recommend

I recently got back from several days shooting in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Gulfport. We were asked as volunteers to get footage to create a free DVD that could be used to encourage more volunteers to go there as they are desperately needed.

It was extraordinary seeing first-hand both the incredible destruction and the tremendous heights of the human spirit. There were people there who had lost everything themselves but who arrived at the refugee camps, looked around and said, "What can I do to help?" Please don't believe what you hear in the media about the police, they are doing an extraordinarily courageous job under horrendous conditions.

We filmed inspiring interviews with celebrities who were helping out onsite and shot footage of volunteers in action at the refugee camps and the police in New Orleans (Jefferson Parrish) and did volunteer and victim interviews and shot footage of the damaged environment.

One reason I'm writing about this here is that we used some equipment that I learnt about on these wonderful forums in recent months and I wanted to re-recommend these for anyone who might be looking for similar equipment.

Most of the handheld footage was shot using the simple Tiffen Steadystick and it did an excellent job. For audio we used Sennheiser G2's and the Rode Videomic and both recorded very well under often very noisy conditions.

Thanks again very much to those here who recommended these as they made our job much more do-able.

Tony
