Shorten Render Time

Is there a product I can buy to work with VV3 that will shorten the time it takes to render a file? I'm working with a Dell P4/1.6Ghz with 512MB of RAM, and my projects have quite a few effects and options turned on to make the slow motion scenes as smooth as possible. However, it can easily take an entire day to render a single file.

I understand products from Canopus offer hardware/software solutions to speed up the rendering time. If this is true, can any of this hardware work with VV3? Or, do I need to switch to a Canopus product to get faster, yet high quality results?

Thanks for any input.

Ron

Vegas is software only, and it will not work in conjunction with any hardware rendering solutions. Projects will take longer to render when there are lots of edits, effects, and transitions.

only a faster computer will make Vegas render faster. currently there aren't any hardware cards that will work directly with Vegas. if your final format is DV, you might consider rendering your project in segments to DV. then you would only have to re-render the parts that you change. it will only save you time if you are going back and tweaking things after the render.

for your final movie, put all your segments on the timeline and render it or print it to tape. there will be no re-compression on the final render (if going to DV), just a data copy, so it will go fast if your drives are fast.

your other option is to optimize/reduce your use of cpu intensive plugins.
