I've only used Vegas 5 before upgrading to 7, so I can't compare the difference to your version and 7. All I know is with the changes in 7, it's more fun to edit. The snapping tools are so cool, plus the ability to have the layout with the preview and tabs on top, and the timeline below. It's worth risking a few uncovered bugs to edit this way.
