Show Video in Preview Window not working during render

I always have the "show video in preview window" option turned on when rendering files so that I can visually see whereabouts in the video the rendering is currently at, but now when I render, all I see in the preview window is the frame that I'm currently at while editing.

This started happening in one of the later releases of Vegas Pro 20, but now I have just upgraded to Vegas Pro 21 and it's still happening.

I've ensured that I'm running the latest drivers for my NVidia graphics card, and my Windows 11 installation is fully up to date.

Is there any other setting I need to enable for this to happen?

Thank you

It actually could be your video driver. I know there's an issue with newer nVidia drivers where an effect will not adjust the results until the effect window is closed. You might try this and see if it makes a difference:

Since I and several other users have this same issue (associated with Nvidia drivers and laptops), I find it odd and baffling that the Vegas Video development team isn't working with Nvidia directly on this old issue, rather than the frustrated users. Seems to me doing that would provide a big push.

Thanks. It’s good to know that it’s not just me with this issue.

At the end of the day, it’s not a critical issue for me, just a bit annoying!

Nvidia claimed to have fixed the issues a few driver releases ago, but they didn't... since then, the development team for VEGAS has reached out to Nvidia directly and both are currently working on a fix. Until then, the workaround or driver version rollbacks work to get around the issue.

@fr0sty

That is good news. Seems like this issue has been around since 11/2022. I'm thinking that (new) folks with laptops and this problem will avoid Vegas 21. Don't want a bad trial to hurt sales :)

I'm surprised NVIDIA was so slow to address this. I got annoyed by waiting for them and opened a support ticket in May. They confirm a fix is in the works but no ETA.
