Shuffle GRID please!

Do i have to write more?...

The real feel is not the perfect 16th in my music. I wanna use - and i do it in a hard way - swing ( shuffle grid ) to build my sessions.

Now i'm using some prepared PILOT tracks with very short cliks on it, quantized to 16B - in Logic - for eg.

Very hard to sync my takes to the pilot without the SNAPPING-feel..

Very simple thing, plesae SoFo!...

I'm i alone?

I'm with you.....sorta. Seeing Vegas doesn't have a master tempo option, and that Vegas is more of a mixing/editing tool, I therefore don't think this feature is eccential in Vegas. But ACID...now I would totally agree with you.

....Or the slightly more facetious answer...

I'm with you.....totally. But seeing Vegas doesn't have a master tempo option, and that Vegas has basically become a video editing tool, unfortunately I don't think this feature will make it into the program.

...Pity...

I was just about to post a similar request to solve the exact same problem. I wasn't going to ask for shuffle grid snap, but a higher resolution grid snap. 64th notes, 64th note triplets, 128th notes etc.

I've already made this feature request using the product suggestion option in the support menu.

Here's my big problem right now. My girlfriend has recorded all the music for her album using a free version of Logic called Logic Fun, and the old Seer Systems Reality soft synth sampler. All her song use quantized swing from Logic. The big problem is, being midi the response times are really sloppy and all over the place. There'll be drums flamming, bass notes slightly ahead of the beat etc, etc. Most can barely be heard, but it's enough to ruin the overall sound of the music. It just lacks that tight feel.

So what I'm doing is recording all the parts separately, layering them in Vegas and time correcting them just by splitting the waveforms, adjusting the attack and moving them into place with the grid snap activated. With Vegas this is quick and simple. I couldn't ask for a better way of doing things.

Unfortunately the grid snap only goes as high as 32nd note triplets. So for the notes and drum hits with swing applied, there's no grid position to snap them to. The closest grid line is too far away, and snapping the parts there would ruin the whole feel of the song. Plus the lengths wouldn't match either.

The solution would be to include at least 64th note and 64th note triplet grid snap. Then there would be extra grid positions that these parts could be snapped to without having to move them too far.

Now, can ask if there's any chance of this being added to a future 4.0x update of Vegas? I'd hate to have to wait for v5.0.
