Shuttle Pro

Recently got a shuttle pro, but I find I'm mostly using the scrub wheel, but using the buttons not very frequently.

The stock setup file I'm not certain is setup for the most common comands. I know there is a way to program the shuttle, but what are other users using for short cut keys. Also, I've not found a source of setup files for it and search here did not bring up any. Anyone out there have a link?

Depends on your workflow I guess.

I've got the top four buttoms setup for navigation (left by marker, left by grid, right by grid, right by marker).

The rest are programmed for keystrokes that have been mapped to various scripts or actions, including "delete to beginning of event", "select event under cursor", "delete event", "split event", "J-cut", "previous at cursor" and the all-important "undo" !

I have buttons programmed for "A" (add material to time line), "S" (split) and the two large buttons on the left side below the jog shuttle are programmed to "Enter" and "Space bar" so I can stop scrubbing on the time line without reaching for the keyboard. Also "J" "K" and "L."

I'm not in the editing room now so I can't remember off hand what the other buttons do. But I agree, it depends on your work flow -- whatever saves you the most time and reduces repetative moves to the keyboard.

You should be able to go to the Shuttle Pro control panel and key down through the Vegas section to see how the device is setup by default.

My ShuttleXpress was a favorite for editing, but when I installed Vegas6d, it killed my Contour shuttle.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled, I've change USB ports it plugs into, I've gone into Device Manager and tried to Rollback drivers and used the Troubleshooter, I've tried every option in the Contour Shuttle Control Panel, and I've even contacted Contour and repointed to the Target Application...no luck.

Worked perfect until 6d, doesn't work at all now.

Any ideas?

I don't think this is a problem caused by version "d"; hasn't affected my shuttle.

CSP working on V6d here too.

Yeah, I wouldn't have thought it was V6d either except that I had downloaded the update and waited to install it until I finished a small edit I was doing in which I used the shuttle. After the edit, I closed Vegas, installed the V6d update, rebooted, and the Contour ShuttleXpress icon in the system tray had an red X over it. I opened V6d to see that it installed OK and the shuttle hasn't worked since. V6d works great but not the shuttle.

So the V6d install was definately what killed my shuttle.

Funny how I've gotten used to the keyboard shortcuts so quickly since the Shuttle quit. I've got a World Tech keyboard with all the Vegas shortcuts printed on the keys. I think that since Contour Designs has been so weak in responding that I'll just leave it unplugged. Oh well.
