some can get by strictly with keyboard commands. I've used the ShuttlePro since day one with Vegas. I couldn't live without it. Don't even have all of my buttons programmed but the actual shuttle control is what I love...
I recently got the ShuttleXPress with a Vegas keyboard. It seems like a cool thing but all I can do is make Vegas 4 crash by using the shuttle wheel, which is th emain reason for it's use to me. I Have the latest drivers but it did not matter and Contour Design tech support said it isn't a problem with their drivers anyway. Other than uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling (Did that) and moving it to another USB port (did that) doesn;t seem to be anything I can do about the crash. (Well - if it is a Vegas 4 bug maybe it is fixed in Vegas 5?) As many people in these forums use the Shuttle Pro I would say go with that and *not* the XPress model as it seems to have issues with Vegas (version 4 anyway). (I would be a bit more po'd at the whole thing but I basicly got the ShuttleXpress for free with the keyboard, I am let down however so don't get me wrong)

not sure if it was you posting before on this subject, but I think your crashes when scrubbing with the shuttle may be due to the audio driver you're using.
In the preferences try changing to a different driver model.
I use a shuttle express at work and the shuttle pro at home. I find that the pro has more buttons than I can remember so I'd recommend the Express. It works fine for me.
Once you get used to using the CSP you feel deprived without it.
Apart from the wonderful jog/shuttle, with single button functions like Post Edit Shuffle, insert marker, split, move events up/down by tracks, next/previous event, next/previous marker, play, pause/stop ... it makes life very easy.
I used to find it necessary, but now that I've got this new Bella with it built in, I'm pretty happy with just that. less hand movement. But....I'm stuck on needing a jog shuttle of some kind.
Jogshttle pro is a must have for me - working with the jog with the left hand, with the mouse on the right hand and supported by some scripts, cutting with vegas becomes real fun.
For the Bella keyboard, I had the impression that it is on the wrong side of the keyboard (near to the right hand, what I tend to use for the mouse). However, maybe a question of training only.
