ShuttlePro Customization

amendegw wrote on 9/24/2009, 5:15 AM
Just received my new ShuttlePro V.2 and I'd like to create a button that splits an event and then deletes the newly created left side event.

I think I want to do something like this:
1) Split the Event (keystroke "S")
2) Move one frame left (keystroke "left arrow")
3) Select this "new/left" event (this is where I stumble - don't know how to program a select e.g. mouseclick)
4) Delete the event (keystroke "delete").

Can someone help here? Maybe there's a better way to do this?

Have Num Lock ON and on the Number PAD press 7. This will move selection LEFT. Press Number 9 and you move/select Event on the Right and hit Del.

Try this out: SPLIT an Event 4 times and Navigate with Number Pad 7<>9 to say split 2>3 hit delete!

No need for CSP here, just adds another level of ambiguity - I think?

Grazie,

CSP is perfect for these type of macros. I have one programmed that does a similar thing. I will check it tonight to see how I selected the event to delete it.

It's really easy to program a keystroke macro once you get past the totally counterintuitive labeling of the CSP interface.

After opening the CSP control panel and selecting the "Application Setting" and the "Device Events Control" (here you select which button or jogwheel action will play the macro) click on the "Key Composer" tab.

Under "Macro selection" click "NEW" and assign a name to the macro. The only way to proceed from that point is to hit ENTER, that will now enable the "Action Sequence" panel where you can enter the building blocks. To start, click on "Add in group", this opens the Macro action editor. The choices here are self evident.

Once finished with the action sequences click on APPLY and you're set.

I've found that it makes for far more flexibility to have the actual macro written in a full featured macro application such as Macro Express (MACEX.com, not free but certainly affordable) and use the keystroke combo action in CSP's macros to call the external macro. I've been using Macex for so many years in all my windows apps that I can make automation sing. In fact, I have many macros in Vegas calling scripts and combinations of actions that I commonly use.

I have CSP 2.7.2 Driver and I don't have the CSP2 "Key Composer" tab? Pity, 'cos that WOULD allow me to build macros. Unless I have this about face?

Grazie, and the reason you don't upgrade to v 2.7.6 would be??????

In fact thanks, I am running 2.7.5 and if it weren't for your mention I wouldn't have found out of the existence of 2.7.6 and that there's a Win 7 beta available.

Lethargy, apathy, ignorance, obliviousity, . . . pick one of these?

I have the PREVIOUS Shuttle pro. Would the drivers still work for this too?

No idea, I have the V2. You must have been a pioneer in ShuttlePro use if you have the earlier version.
Grazie wrote on 9/24/2009, 8:23 AM
Installed. No harm done - so far. Do you have a screen of this macro option you speak? I can make KS of say, Ctr+X but after that I can't add a further KS? It all goes Pete Tong on me?

Will this do?

There is a manual you can download. :)

Nope, I don't get that at all. No 3 Tabs - just "Shuttle Pro" and "About" and that's it! It must be 'cos the SP2 has firmware options to access these tabs.

Even though there is space to do it, I still can't "chain" keystrokes using the "Keystroke" field.

Then Macex could do it for you. You can setup as complex a macro as you desire, then use a single hot-key combination to call it from the CSP. Check it out, there may be a free trial available. But be warned, it's an addictive tool. And I'm sure there are many freeware macro apps available as well.

Good stuff guys!!

I'm not in a position to try out these ideas, but I'm sure I can get my "split and delete left" CSP V2 button working now.

I'll report back this later today or tomorrow with my progress.

Thanks,

Well, I thought I could solve this, but...

I still can't figure out how to select the left event without a mouseclick once I've done the split. And I can't figure out how to program CSP to do a mouseclick.

If that's clear as mud... I'll try to rephrase: let's say I'm looking at an event. I move the cursor to the point I wish to make the split and press "S". If I'd had the event previously selected, now the right event becomes selected. But I want to select & delete the left event. Can this be done with keyboard only commands?

Like I said, I will check my macro when I get home. I think I moved the cursor to the left edge or something like that.

This macro deletes a previous scene.

You do have to make the first SPLIT at the beginning of the scene you want to delete. Then position the cursor where the end splits. If you have RIPPLE on, it will fill the gap.

1. Keystroke combo: S
2. Pause: 20 milliseconds
3. Keystroke combo: Control + Alt + Left Arrow
4. Pause: 20 milliseconds
5. Keystroke combo: I
6. Pause: 20 milleseconds
7. Keystroke combo: Control + Alt + Right Arrow
8. Pause: 20 milleseconds
9. Keystroke combo: O
10. Pause: 20 milleseconds
11. Keystroke combo: Shift+Q
12. Pause: 20 milleseconds
13. Keystroke combo: Del
14. Keystroke combo: Alt + Right Arrow
15. Keystroke combo: Alt + Left Arrow

DaveT2,

You ARE the man!!!

Works perfectly with ripple on (my normal edit mode). I had some problems with ripple off, but I'll need spend some time fiddling with the keystroke sequence (not a priority for me right now).

Boy, this would have been a lot easier if Sony would give us a shortcut key for "Select Event at Cursor".

Thanks again,

thanks. I did this a long time ago, so there might be some moves not needed. If you improve on it let me know.

Glad I could help.
