Recently upgraded to Vegas Pro 9. I don't seem to be able to get my Shuttle XPress to work with it. It currently works fine with my copy of Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8, but not with Pro 9 on a Vista 64 machine.
I installed the latest version of the driver without any change.
Someplace (I think here when I searched) I read that the ShuttleXpress (and ShuttlePro) files came with Vegas Pro.
First thing I did was pop the CD in and look ... no luck. I also looked on the ShuttleXpress website .. nada.
A few days later I thought "Let me look in the Vegas directory on the hard drive" ... sucess!
Then I had to figure out what to do with those files ... hmmm ... copy them (the relevant ones) over to the ShuttleXpress folder that has similar files .. which I did. No luck .. still did not work.
Then, while messing around in the ShuttleXpress control panel I saw an "install" option .. so I tried that .. pointing to the files in the Vegas directory. THAT WORKED. Now the ShuttleXpress worked with Vegas Pro 9 ... BUT ... I *still* did not see it in the pull down directory of applications (so I could modify the ShuttleXpress response to my own custom settings)
Finally realized that the filename I had imported was not the same format as the other Sony Vegas files that came with the Shuttle .. and it was placed differently in the pull down list than I thought it would have been. Instead of being after Sony Vegas 7 in the list .. it was between Sonic Foundry VideoFactory 2.0 and Sony ACID 5 .. why? ... because the file name is Sony - Vegas Pro 9
I list all this for future reference for anyone who might have a similar problem.
You may or maynot know this, I did'nt till just recently once you create your own button settings you can export those settings, so if you have to reinstall your system or move to another system you can import your custom settings and not have to rebuild them.
Open the shuttle control panel
Make your changes to the buttons for your workflow
Goto to options
Click export settings
Name the file whatever you like and save.
Now you have your own .pref file the next time you need to install it just goto option and import your .pref
