Side by side photos

What's the easiest way to get good side by side photos. I've tried picture in picture and using a single wipe. (both halfheartedly) Is there a better way?

track motion is the way to go
put one track on top of the other--both using track motion
scale each
also---put a third track motion on top with a solid color to create a bar that divides the two--it looks sharp
