'Signature' effect - how to do?

AFSDMS wrote on 8/15/2006, 2:18 PM
I need an effect that looks like a signature being written. I need to use this with Vegas 6. Using a wipe to disclose the signature isn't the effect I need. I have an original of the signature to work from and am tryi8ng to come up with a way to create what would basically be an animation.

Any help appreciated.

I've used Bezier Curves to do a progressive "reveal" of a written statement - here read signature - and it worked really well.

BCurves are in Pan/Crop. Check the "Mask" Keyframe Timeline section and you get all the controls to create and manipulate BCurves.

It's a lot of fun too!

FYI - you can search this forum for "handwriting" and you'll get several hits.

Didn't think to search on handwriting, thanks.

I'll have to take a peek at using curves. That might prove more that challenging since I need to reproduce a real signature of the subject of a documentary.

Look at the sample projects on the Vegas software (or online at Sony). There's a project in there about Boston that uses Bezier Curves to reveal text that says, "Boston". It's a good cheat sheet.
