Simple fan-in, fan-out transition wanted

Whare can I find a set of simple transitions? Like the fan-in, fan-out in Windows Movie Maker. I spent $$$ on NewBlue transitions, only to find out that is does not have the most basic transitions.
Same with Vegas, no fan transition.
Or is it possible to tweak one of the on-borad transitions to achieve what I want?
Tha fan transition has a V shape that widens up, like a hand-held fan.

One simple way is to over lay the clips on separate tracks and use the mask option in pan/crop and set keyframes to start and end the fan sweeps on the upper track. You can even add blurrs to the mask edges.

Transitions are just simply pics that fade from black to white

Use the luminance transition and add any pic you want. Make your own from dripping paint to a puzzle for eg if the first piece of the puzzle is white and the next light grey and the next slightly darker and so on the last piece being black then in video progression it will look like you r building a puzzle

Hi Jazzman,
I want to try this. I am new to video editing and new to Vegas, so I am not quite sure yet if I will succeed. And if it is worth the efforts and to what extent it can be easily repeated in my projects..
A ready made fan transition is much preferred.

Hi what-the-fx,
wow - this is interesting! I learnt something new right now. I will definitely have a look at it. Just downloaded and installed the plug-in. Thanks!

If you want to make your own custom transitions, here's a really old tutorial from Spot on one way to do this:

Customized Transitions in Sony Vegas Software

Here's another post with some practical ideas:

video transition: slide puzzles

I think Sony should add a 'save as transition' option.

Then you could apply effects on two clips and Vegas would be able to reuse the effect as a transition.

I have mentioned this to Sony but I didn't get any response.

Ah, here's the site I was thinking of earlier today:

Scott's Fabulous Website

There are two downloads for transitions, but the one that will probably be of interest is the SMLuminance download. Here is the description from this site:

SMLuminance is a freeware transition plugin for Vegas Video 3 and Vegas versions 4, 5, 6 & 7. It blends from one shot to the next based on either:
