I was once again awed by Vegas over the weekend! After using my own equipment for well over a year, my church bought a refurbished computer and asked me to set them up for video & audio. After setting everything up and giving them my Vegas 6.0d, I was able to run two instances of Vegas, capture a live 45 minute stream from the camera and simultaneously capture 45 minutes of multi-track audio with an MOTU 828!
We’re using a 2.0 Ghz dual Xeon, with 2 firewire cards. I’ve got video going through one card and audio through the other. Each stream is going to a different drive (the audio to the system’s SCSI system drive and video going to a new 300gb Maxtor IDE drive).
I’m using the batch render script to send 3 flavors from the video project to a “watched folder” (.mp4, .wmv and .mp3). SmartFTP picks up each file as soon as its rendered and FTP’s it to my server. The files are easily podcasted and available hours after the event. The time I’ve saved can be spent on tweaking the multi-track recordings. Thanks Sony!
