Hello forum users:
I have created about 15 or so simple movies in the MPEG 2 and AC3 combination to a plain jane DVD-R.
And each time I go through some sort of H... Process to get the 2 files and the Menu set up right.
One of the latest mysteries is when I double click on the 2 files to activate them in the timeline view only one registers at a time. The other blanks out, turns to black on the timeline view. So I either can preview the sound or the video but not both. I have my folder structure similar to another movie I made that plays okay. The only difference is that the bad file has a navigation arrow in the menu view for files No. 2 and 3. The good file does not have the navigate arrows. I am not sure how to get rid of them and what difference it would make.
Another problem is figuring out the "Navigate Into" selection. It is not listed as such in the Help Topics. Is this command something I should be using when building a simple movie? When is it used and how does it work? I think it's missing two commands such as "Navigate from..." and then "Navigate Into..." It needs a whole chapter in the Help Topics which I cannot find.
Does a movie like I am trying to build even need navigation arrows?
Or does the file just play them automatically somehow???
Should I be using the "SET START ITEM"??? at all?
If the video file is the start item them how do you "Start" the audio file to play?
I think there should be a simple command like "SET START ITEMS" The "S" would indicate you have 2 files that need to be linked or start playing at the same time. Or maybe a script that JOINS them before you go to build your movie.
This is extremely difficult to figure out and I am going nuts.
I feel that if I can get the video and audio file to both show in the timeline then I would have it made and get on with the burn process.
Any tips on how this is done please let me know.
I have looked through some training videos on You Tube and such but none where at the "DUMMY" level. I cannot afford to order any DVD's or books that explain all this.
Thanks,
BIll
OT - My GF uses Macs and I am having the misfortune to have to use a Mac laptop while my internet connection gets reset in PC World. The mouse cord plugs in the far left side of the unit and is very short. So, the cord is almost up on the laptop surface and you cannot freely move the mouse around, yuk. The keyboard backlights keep turning on and off every few seconds, rather distracting. The keypad surface can be so unresponsive so that at times you have to press really hard to get something to highlight. The scrollbar button on the mouse is a tiny little ball about the size of a BB. It actually works okay, that is after you find it with the very tip of your finger. I have a easier time pulling off dingleberries than locating the scroll button.
Who said theses things are so ergonomic? I find them quite the opposite.
