It's really a matter of time and bitrate. For example, with an average encoding bitrate of 6,000 Kbps and AC3 audio, you should be able to get about 1.5 hours onto a DVD.

You can find a very nice bitrate calculator at: http://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm

Just plug in your time values and it will tell you what your average bitrate will need to be.

Thanks for answering Scott. I have a trial version of Pinacle at my work and was noticing it has a "guage" that tells you how much room you have on your hard drive and also depending on what media you will burn to, a guage telling you how much room you have used and the remaining space on the cd or dvd. Anything like that, that I haven't seen in MS?

I think I found the answer to my question about how to find out how large a movie file is. If you do "make movie" it shows a window that shows in gigabites the size of the avi (movie) avi file. If you change that to mpeg2 it will show you the size of the rendered file to see if it will fit on your dvd or not. Am I right?
