Skip Chapters while playing Blu-Ray Disc in DVDA

When playing a Blu-ray disc with chapters, I can skip to each chapter while the disc is playing with no problem. But, when I go into scene selection and select a chapter to play, I cannot then skip to the next chapter while the disc is playing. I have to stop, eject the disc and then close again to get the chapters to skip while playing. Is this a problem with software?

What player are you using? Oldish Panasonic perhaps?

That is a known problem with DVDA and some players.

Workarounds:

1. Buy a new player that does skip properly (test in store first).

2. Author with something other than DVDA. TMPGEnc Authoring Works, for instance.

3. Don't use submenus. Put all your scene select buttons on the main menu.

I am using a Panasonic, don't remember how old, probably a few years. I have played DVD's with chapters in the same player and it works fine from scene selection. Problem was just with Blu-Ray. I'll try scene select buttons on the main menu. It also gives me an excuse to buy a new Blu-Ray player. Thanks for your help.

It seems to be just an incompatibility problem between oldish Panasonic players and BDs authored with DVDA.

My oldish Panasonic player (actually a recorder) plays commercial BDs and BDs I authored with TMPGEnc Authoring Works without problems, but not BDs authored with DVDA.

My newer LG player plays all BDs without problems.

You might find that newer Panasonic players are OK, but as I said, take a sample disc to the store to verify that a player is OK before you buy.

Note:

If you want to be certain that you can select scenes when your BD is played on other people's players, then you should choose one of the other two workarounds.
