I’m not sure what you mean by a "grid" but if you want to split at regular intervals Ultimate S will do this. Just select the Markers tab and check add markers at regular intervals, split events at markers, and remove all markers. This will leave you with a track that is split at regular intervals. Is this what you mean?

It works on the whole track so if you just want to slice a single event you would have to move the event to a new track, slice it and then move the slices back in place. Also if you already have markers in the project and don’t want to add more, just slice the event in a new instance of Vegas and cut and paste it back into the original instance. You can try Ultimate S out free for 15 days and see if it does what you want. If not, we can always include it as a new feature in the next release.
