Is there a way to slice a clip (video, audio) once it is on
the timeline? I vaguely remember a version of Premiere
(ick) doing that feature, just wondering if Vegas can
too...and how it can. Knowing would increase
productivity. Thank you.
To split an audio clip: click in the track to place the
cursor where you want the split and type "s" (no quotes). I
don't do video work but assume the procedure would be the
same.
The process is very simple in VV. Select the tracks on the
timeline you wish to slice (split) first (you may want the
split to run vertically from the top of the timeline all
the way to the bottom (all video/audio tracks . . . top to
bottom or you may only want to split the video or the audio
on one track . . . VV allows for this), then hit 'S'.
You'll see the little carrot appear at the top of the
track(S) indicating the split. If you select tracks on one
side of the carrot, you'll see that you can drag them away,
an indication that they are now split.
Because VV allows you to treat Audio/Video either together
or separately, this tool is very useful for repositioning
audio within a video segment.
It's very simple, extremely accurate, and capable of single-
frame accuracy.
