This is actually very simple... Just import your media into the media pool. Go under Options, then Preferences. Go to the editing tab and there is a option for time between slides (New still image length). Set that for your preference (3-5 seconds is usually good). Next, copy the images from the media pool onto the timeline. Add transitions as you wish. You can put a music track down below the pictures too. Take a good look at the manual on panning effects (pg. 77). This adds A LOT to still images making them more interesting! Do the tutorial too. You'll be very glad you did.

Where VV3 really shines is the fact you can also drop a background *video* track _below_ the pics.

Premiere can sort of do this, using virtual clips, but what a hassle. Downside is VV3 doesn't seem to optimize the stills while rendering.

My stills were very choppy/grainy on my SVCDs. Mentioned this several times and I can't take credit for it, but if you convert mp3 music files to wav format the still shots are perfect. Don't know why, but I'm sure SF knows about this quirk.
