HI all

this may sound like a stupid question but how do i import photos based on their exif shot date (or to make it easier i can rename the photos in numeric order) and place them on the timeline in that order in one batch??

when i try it (numbering the photos a1 through to a190 it sorts them in the media bins a1,a10,a11,a2,a20 etc etc

any clues?

Try naming the photos using a three-digit number: 001, 002, 003, etc.

thanks for the advise but it still sorts them

000
001
010
00100

any other ideas?

You did name them 001, 002, 003, etc., 010, 011, 012, etc., right?

You should not name a file 00100. You should name it 100. That will give you room for up to 999 photos in alpha-numeric order.

menu | insert | slideshow
Add your pictures to the Slideshow Creator. Now you can move, sort, rotate as you like. You can drag pics to the new location. Very handy.
Be certain to visit the settings tab to adjust time & effects.

oh this is so frustrating

i have renamed them 0,1,2,3,4 etc up to 194

but MS sorts them

0
1
10
100
101
102

etc etc.........there must be something easier than this

That won't work.

Steve Grisetti has already told you what you need to do, but as far as I can tell from your messages here you have not taken his advice.

To reiterate (in even more explicit detail):
Number them 001, 002, ...009, 010, 011, ...099, 100, 101, ... etc.

To put it another way, make sure that they all have the same number of digits (3) in their number, using leading zeros where necessary.

thanks Mark (and by the way i did try Steve's advise) however what i found did work was to start renumbering with image no 1 being 100 the sequentially numbering from there - that works a treat

on a similar subject though, i found with the later versions of VMS that my photos seem blurry when veiwing the preview - whereas with V8 they are clear.....however i did find with the rendered version in V8 that a couple of photos appear to have been digitally sharpened (to the point of oversharpening) during the import/render process where as the jpg's viewed through either PS or Windows image veiwer look fine

any ideas on this??
